Crash kills New Yorker

Osceola County -- A New York man driving north on Florida's Turnpike after making a furniture delivery in South Florida died when he crashed his truck and was partially ejected from the overturned vehicle early Saturday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Chandrambam "Rickey" Luckhoo, 24, overcorrected after the truck went off the road to the right, crossing into the median and rolling at about 12:30 a.m., the patrol said. Luckhoo, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pinned under the cab and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger, 27-year-old Ramnauth Khamenaut, was asleep when the crash occurred and was not hurt.

Troopers found several bottles of beer in the truck's passenger compartment, as well as a small cooler with cold beer cans.

However, the Highway Patrol does not know whether alcohol or fatigue played a role in the accident. The crash remains under investigation.

April Hunt of the Sentinel staff contributed to this report.
